Main‑Motor Heating Device for Engineering Drilling Rig

When the power supply of the main‑motor heater of the top‑drive unit is normal and the main motor is not in operation, the heater can be started or stopped by using the [Motor Heating] switch on the PLC/MCC cabinet door. The operating state of the heater is indicated by its indicator lamp on the PLC/MCC cabinet.

Under normal PLC‑system operation, the heater is interlocked with the main motor. If the main motor is started while the heater is working, the heater will stop automatically. The heater cannot be activated when the main motor is running.

Main‑Motor Cooling Fan of Engineering Drilling Rig

The cooling fan of the top‑drive unit is mounted on the top of the main motor.

Slide the [Fan] switch on the driller’s operating console to the ON position to start the main‑motor fan directly.

Set the [Fan] switch to the OFF position to stop both the main‑motor fan and the drive‑cabinet fan.

However, when the main motor is running, the fan will not stop regardless of the position of the [Fan] switch.

When the [Fan] switch is turned to the AUTO position, the main‑motor fan will start automatically upon top‑drive system startup; after the top‑drive system shuts down, the fan will stop automatically with a time delay.
